“You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions.” - Joseph Pilates
I'm not sure I'd be bold enough to make a statement as strong as this, or make any such guarantees, but if you are looking to try something that will work to strengthen, stabilise and stretch your body, then Pilates could be just the thing for you!
I truly believe that Pilates is for everyone. I am a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist, with more than 25 years of experience. Exercise is the cornerstone of Physiotherapy Practice, and there are many overlaps with Pilates. This has led me to train to teach Pilates with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). The APPI have taken the classical Pilates matwork repertoire and modified it to incorporate current evidence based practice to ensure a safe, effective form of exercise for anyone, regardless of any injuries or musculoskeletal conditions. It is particularly helpful for individuals suffering from low back pain, but can really be modified to suit everyone.
Beginners Pilates Courses
This five week course will introduce you to the Pilates Principles, and teach you some of the essential exercises designed to work both body and mind. Modifications of the exercises will be given, to support each individual. By the end of the course, you should have a good working knowledge of the Pilates basics. The class size will be very small (no more than 5 participants) to allow for a personal, supervised approach, enabling you to get the very most out of your introduction to Pilates.
The next course will run in January 2020
